Stick pack pouches

Stick pack pouches are a type of flexible packaging characterized by their small size. narrow shape in width and long in length. The compact size makes the stick bag can hold single-servings neatly. Due to the narrow tipped, tubular configuration, spillage is less likely than with other package types.

The film materials used for stick package applications includes PET, MET PET or PPFP (paper/foil-poly/foil) or even paper constructs.

The finished stick pack is sealed at both ends with a vertical seal down the back. Stick pack pouches are the ideal package for single-serve applications, sample sizes, and products that are stocked at the point of purchase at retailers.

Their single-serve size serves as a unique selling point for consumers, providing a simple application that doesn’t require measuring, storage, and the clean-up associated with full-size packaging.

Block bottom bag

A flat-bottom bag (also referred to as “flat bottom bag”) is a five-sided, free-standing pouch with a flat, rectangular base. It has material for greater space and strength, known as gussets, on both the left and right side of the pouch, with a fastener on top. Side gusseted bags have a single seal that spans the entire width of the bag and runs through the bottom.

The advantages of these bags are that the bags are closed from all end making it spillage proof and dust free. There is no major sealing required on the bag after filling to close it. The flat bottom allows all kinds of products for sturdy storage. It holds more weight in compare to Bottom Gusset Pouches.

Most flat bottom bags are made with kraft paper, aluminium, or LDPE. Some will combine two or more layers for added protection or aesthetic purposes. Block Bottom Bags have been a very popular style of bag for coffee packaging. Coffee roasters that want to communicate a rustic look may choose kraft paper on the outside with an aluminium foil interior, which is an effective barrier against light, moisture, and oxygen.

Retortable flexible packaging

Retortable flexible packagings are laminate structures that are thermally processed like can. Retort systems use steam or super-heated water to cook food in its own package, ensuring food safety.

Retortable flexible packs are packages which replace cans, for cooked and ready-to-eat foods. The materials of the flexible packaging provide superior barrier properties for a long shelf life, seal integrity, toughness and puncture resistance and also withstand the rigors of thermal processing.

High barrier flexible packaging structures containing aluminium foil, vacuum deposited metal coatings or “glass” oxide coatings (such as SiOx an AIOx), are impermeable except in regions where defects, cracks or pinkholes may be present. 
Retortable pouches are flexible and very stable against external pressure can withstand a very rapid come-up rate or cooling.

The structure of the retortable pouch use today is made from a laminate of three materials: an outer layer of 12 μm polyester film for strength, an adhesive laminated to a middle layer of 9-18 μm aluminium foil as a moisture, light, and gas barrier, which is laminated to the inner layer of 76 μm polypropylene film as the heat seal and food-contact material.
